Learning Edge - Centre for Autism and Early Intervention

The Valley of Kashmir lacks specialised and trained institutions that have well-chartered plan and facilities available to rehabilitate the affected children. While there are many sporadic centre's that claim to have proficiency in the Autistic therapy, there outcomes have been dismal and not up to the expectations. This has been the firsthand experience of the parents themselves.

Autistic children need one-on-one intervention and the present institutions lack adequate and qualified manpower.

Moreover such children are considered as a burden, especially after the death of one or either of the parents. For such children, there is a need for more than a day care. Feeling the inadequacy of a proper institutional mechanism, the need of having a dedicated and well equipped centre was felt. This fact has led to development of Learning Edge -Centre of Autism and Early Intervention.

Our focus will be on holistic interventions that cater to multiple needs of the children in a planned manner. The aim is to improve the lives of the children, make them self-dependent wherever possible and to mainstream them into the society through acceptance, skill development and awareness generation.
